Thanks to ContiSeal, drivers are much less likely to become acquainted with the jack tucked away in their Passat’s boot
Starting on December 16, 2009, Volkswagen’s sports-oriented ‘R-Line’ version of its Passat CC is leaving the factory fitted with tyres featuring Continental’s ‘ContiSeal’ technology. The size 235/45 R 17 and 235/40 R 18 self-sealing ContiSportContact 3 tyres featured on the Passat R-Line are capable of closing off punctures up to five millimetres in diameter, and thus Conti believes around 85 per cent of all tyre failures can be resolved through this technology. |

With ContiSeal technology, a coating on the inner side of the tread immediately seals any punctures, thereby enabling the motorist to continue his journey without any problems. All other characteristics of the ContiSportContact 3 are identical to those found on the regular tyre, except for the weight, which because of the presence of this coating is a good kilo more than its standard counterpart.
Introduced onto the market last December, Volkswagen's Passat CC R-Line is primarily intended to satisfy the more sports-oriented Passat buyer. The range is available with a variety of engines from 140 hp (103 kW) to 300 hp (220 kW). Volkswagen supplies all versions of this Passat CC model range exclusively with ContiSeal variants of the ContiSportContact. |
