Just thought I would drop you a line regarding my experience with your GT Radial Tyres.
I have been driving for nearly 50 years and would have averaged in the vicinity of 80,000km's per year
in a variety of vehicles on all types of roads and therefore am not easily impressed, possibly somewhat
cynical, regarding the claims of many automotive products.
I have also developed a real appreciation of the work tyres do and their importance to handling and
safety despite the abuse they sometimes receive, and have previously always chosen from "brand"
name tyres.
Following you continual pushing of the GT brand I fitted a set to our small car and was pleasantly
surpirsed with their handling and most competitive price. So much so that we then fitted HT Savero's to
our Santa Fe and were so impressed with these we then fitted AT Plus Savero's to my new Patrol as I
was not happy with the handling and ride with the supplied tyres. The improvement was outstanding.
After some 9000km's of superb highway and dirt road use we arranged with five other people to
embark on a journey to Cape York. During the planning, after many comments retaking "budget tyres"
on a trip liek this I almost changed to Coopers for the trip but as I was more than happy with their on
road performance decided they could possibly live up to their AT badge off road as well.
We logged 8000km's on the Cape run and travelled many of the old tracks including the Frenchman's
Road. The old Telegraph Track, Somerset, Chilli Beach, The Bypass Road, Jowalbinna and the old Cobb
& Co road to the Palmer Goldfields and Maytown. One day 5.5 hrs hard driving took us 47.3klm's,
awesome!!!
We were the heaviest laden vehicle in the group, and after we hit the corrugations after Cooktown I
made the decision the tyres had to share the pain of travel and let the pressure down to 22psi, very
low for our weight, and left it there for the trip, stony river crossings, rough tracks, steep rocky hills,
sharp fire hardened tree roots, sharp shale etc. We had the lot and the so-called "budget tyres"
came through without a hitch. A couple of the goup lost a tyre (big name brands), not the tyres fault,
just luck, but proved the GT's were up there with the best. We just pumped them up at Mareeba and
kept driving home.
