NSW Cystic Fibrosis charity runs a rally though NSW & QLD each year.

The medic, Richard de Groot, who drives a Nissan Patrol, is driving for the 2nd year in a row, on the same set of GT Radial Savero A/T Plus tyres.

Last year, they drove Sydney - Birdsville - Mildura - Sydney.

He was very impressed with GT Radial, especially after bad
experiences with Cooper tyres (blow out) & BF Goodrich (chunking)

This year, they are driving Sydney - Long Reach - Airlie Beach - Sydney.

Day 1
... amount of money raised ... we may break $500,000.00....
The official first day of the rally. We are stating out th efront of the Council Chambers in main street Tamworth. We had some some very rough sections today, genuine 4wd terrain which the normal cars to traverse as ell and all made it.

The tyres performed well on the rough, never slipping or sliding and giving me enough grip. We climbed a steep hill, no track, just grass and rocks at a 25 degree angle in first high and then first low to get to the top without slipping.

Day 2
From Nindigully to Charleville, around the 525km for the day on the road.
Trip started with some soft sand and humps and bumps thorugh some narrow tracks, across a muddy creek.... We had to pull 3 cars out that got bogged in the mud.

The tyres threw the mud out at a great rate of knots when we started driving again. We had some more mud but the tyres worked well.

The tyres had 9mm of tread left on the side and 7mm in the centre of the tyre prior to our departure
in Sydney.

Day 3
Only !!!! 480km to Longreach today

Day 4
There were some interesting sections today rough, rocky and sandy patches, but a short day for driving
as we did not leave until 12:30.

We went to the "Stockman's Hall of Fame".

Day 5
A long day of 490km today so not many exciting sections, just dirt roads, plenty of them.
So far the tyres are doing great and the suspension is working very well.

The tyres do not get above 50 degrees Celcius and ehile pumped up to 40psi at the back the heat
does not increase the pressure abor 46psi, and since we stop regularly this pressure and temperature drops straight away each time.

Day 6
Finish at Airlie Beach at 1600hrs and the time is for ourselves tomorrow as we have a lay day to use as
we see fit.

Day 7
We used the day to go out to the Whitsunday Islands.

Day 8
A very long day, 640km to Theodore.
We did over 250km on bitumen so this helped in getting K's done.
It was a good day to see how the tyres performed on long fast streches both on dirt and bitumen.

In spite of the distances the tyres never got over 50 degrees and pressures not over 46psi on the back and 41psi on the front. Cold temperature pressures are 36psi on the gront and 40psi in the back.
